Join Papago Archery Association and USA Archery AZ as we host the Inaugural AZ State Master’s Championships in 2017!


April 22nd, 2017 (Saturday)

Check in & Equipment Inspection: 7:30 am  

Official Practice (minimum 2 ends): 8:30 am
First Round will begin after official practice.

$50 for AZ State Master’s (early registration before April 12th, 2017)
$60 for non-resident Master’s (registered before April 12th, 2017)
$70 for late registration (Between April 12th – 15th, 2017)

Onsite registration will NOT be accepted. 50% refunds after April 15th, 2017. NO REFUNDS after April 20th, 2017.

Tables & benches are available on site. Please bring additional chairs and canopies as needed. There will be water provided for archers and a concession stand will be available for drink & snack purchases.

*Parking is provided in the paved parking area adjacent to the range and in the additional parking lot located to the NE. All vehicles must be parked in one of the designated parking areas. No parking is allowed on unpaved surfaces.
900 Round on 122cm target faces for Recurve & Barebow divisions* – Archers will shoot three (3) rounds at three (3) different distances. Each round will be 30 arrows (5 ends of 6 arrows).  There will be a break between the middle and short distances.

*Bales with only compound archers will use (2) 122 cm five ring center spot target faces. Lanes will be identified when tentative lane assignments are posted.

*Compound Para-VI archer will shoot at 30m on 60/80/122 cm target faces.

Three Distances:
60 Meters
50 Meters
40 Meters


Bow Type:
Barebow or Genesis, Recurve Bow, Compound Bow
“Masters 50+”, (Born in or before 1967)
“Masters 60+”, (Born in or before 1957)
“Masters 70+”(Born in or before 1947)

Dress Code: Dress code that went into effect January 1, 2017 applies.

USA Archery Dress Code Policy 

The USA Archery Dress Code Policy applies to the following individuals when in front of the Spectator Line at USA Archery Sanctioned Events: (a) Athletes, coaches, managers, credentialed media, team officials, tournament officials, and archer agents.

Must present a professional, athletic appearance while on the field. (Torn, ripped or badly faded clothing articles are not allowed.) Clothing may be of any color, except as noted below.
No camo or blue denim (jeans) may be worn at target events. Accessories such as trim on shirts, caps, quivers, armguards, footwear, etc., are permitted to be camo. At field events, denim may be worn but camo may not be worn.
Shorts, skorts and skirts must not be shorter than fingertip length while standing normally. Leggings (tight fitting/yoga-type stretch pants) may be worn with compliant shorts, skorts or skirts.
Men and women are required to wear upper garments covering the front and back of the body and covering the midriff when at full draw. Women’s upper garments shall have a minimum strap of 3″ or sleeves. Men’s upper garments shall have short or long sleeves.
Shoes must cover the entire foot. Sport/athletic shoes are recommended to all athletes and coaches during target events.
At no time will any athlete or coach wear any article bearing any image or language to be considered offensive to others.


Championship Eligibility: USA Archery Membership listing Arizona as your residence is REQUIRED for you to be eligible for awards.  Guest are welcome to shoot the 900 rounds on Saturday, no award given.

Membership to USA Archery is REQUIRED and CURRENT: temporary membership for the tournament can be found here.  Be prepared to show membership card if asked.

Registration is now open for our 2016 Spring Papago 900. This event is being held on May 7th, 2016 at the Papago Archery Range. Registration for this event always fills up fast and lanes used by the varying divisions are determined based on a first come, first serve basis. Don’t wait, register today!

JOAD & Adult Archery Program Achievement Shoot

Join us the 1st Saturday of September for the monthly pin shoot during JOAD/AAP scheduled practice.

– Bow divisions include Barebow/Recurve & Compound.
– Target size is 122cm (or 80cm) for outdoor & 60cm (or 40cm) for indoor
– Distance is determined by the archer and is based on their next pin goal.
– 36 arrow round (6 ends of 6 arrows) – OUTDOOR
-30 arrow round (10 ends of 3 arrows) – INDOOR

2015 Papago Spring 900 Tournament

Join us for the first Papago 900 tournament of 2015!!

The 900 round tournaments hosted by Papago Archery Association (PAA) are the perfect “first time” tournament for archers of all ages, especially the youth, and fun shoots for any archer that enjoys a little friendly competition.

Check in is at 7:00 am
Practice ends begin at 7:30 am

$25 for all Youth Divisions (Bowman through Junior)

Videos – Archery Shot Process

Ken Leedom will be available on April 11th from 8-9AM to take videos of members (maximum of 6) for subsequent review and analysis.

  • You will shoot 3 arrows in Portrait Mode to look at Stance,
    3 arrows in Landscape Mode to look at Alignment
  • Please bring proper cash payment:
    • $10 for Video
    • $20 for Video & Analysis,
    • Cash only, no checks or Credit Cards.
    • Payment due prior to video shoot.
  • Sign-up sheet will be available by 7:30AM that morning
  • Leave off hats & sunglasses for the video
  • Try to avoid greens & browns as it makes you blend into the background
  • Video file will be copied to a DVDR disk and distributed 1-2 weeks after the video session (file size is approximately 85 MB)
  • In the event of rain or high winds we will reschedule
