Beginners Archery Course (Session 3, Class 3)

This is the 3rd class of the Beginners Archery Course (Session 3 – 2017). The course is comprised of 3 class lessons designed to get you started in the sport of archery the right way. Each class is 90 minutes in length and the cost for course is $75 per archer.

The Beginners Archery Course is open to all persons 8 years old and up and we encourage parents to shoot with their children as archery is a great FAMILY activity. Classes cover safety, the beginnings of the National Training System (NTS – formerly the B.E.S.T. method) and Olympic Archery recurve equipment. All equipment needed for the class will be provided.

Join Papago Archery Association and USA Archery AZ as we host the Inaugural AZ State Master’s Championships in 2017!

LANE ASSIGNMENTS

Check in & Equipment Inspection: 7:30 am  


Official Practice (minimum 2 ends): 8:30 am
First Round will begin after official practice.

REGISTRATION FEE
$50 for AZ State Master’s (early registration before April 12th, 2017)
$60 for non-resident Master’s (registered before April 12th, 2017)
$70 for late registration (Between April 12th – 15th, 2017)

Onsite registration will NOT be accepted. 50% refunds after April 15th, 2017. NO REFUNDS after April 20th, 2017.

Tables & benches are available on site. Please bring additional chairs and canopies as needed. There will be water provided for archers and a concession stand will be available for drink & snack purchases.

*Parking is provided in the paved parking area adjacent to the range and in the additional parking lot located to the NE. All vehicles must be parked in one of the designated parking areas. No parking is allowed on unpaved surfaces.
FORMAT
900 Round on 122cm target faces for Recurve & Barebow divisions* – Archers will shoot three (3) rounds at three (3) different distances. Each round will be 30 arrows (5 ends of 6 arrows).  There will be a break between the middle and short distances.

*Bales with only compound archers will use (2) 122 cm five ring center spot target faces. Lanes will be identified when tentative lane assignments are posted.

*Compound Para-VI archer will shoot at 30m on 60/80/122 cm target faces.

60 Meters
50 Meters
40 Meters

Dress Code: Dress code that went into effect January 1, 2017 applies.

USA Archery Dress Code Policy 

The USA Archery Dress Code Policy applies to the following individuals when in front of the Spectator Line at USA Archery Sanctioned Events: (a) Athletes, coaches, managers, credentialed media, team officials, tournament officials, and archer agents.

Must present a professional, athletic appearance while on the field. (Torn, ripped or badly faded clothing articles are not allowed.) Clothing may be of any color, except as noted below.
No camo or blue denim (jeans) may be worn at target events. Accessories such as trim on shirts, caps, quivers, armguards, footwear, etc., are permitted to be camo. At field events, denim may be worn but camo may not be worn.
Shorts, skorts and skirts must not be shorter than fingertip length while standing normally. Leggings (tight fitting/yoga-type stretch pants) may be worn with compliant shorts, skorts or skirts.
Men and women are required to wear upper garments covering the front and back of the body and covering the midriff when at full draw. Women’s upper garments shall have a minimum strap of 3″ or sleeves. Men’s upper garments shall have short or long sleeves.
Shoes must cover the entire foot. Sport/athletic shoes are recommended to all athletes and coaches during target events.
At no time will any athlete or coach wear any article bearing any image or language to be considered offensive to others.

Camo Bows ARE ALLOWED

Championship Eligibility: USA Archery Membership listing Arizona as your residence is REQUIRED for you to be eligible for awards.  Guest are welcome to shoot the 900 rounds on Saturday, no award given.

Membership to USA Archery is REQUIRED and CURRENT: temporary membership for the tournament can be found here.  Be prepared to show membership card if asked.

March Pin Shoot (Indoor)

Come out and shoot to earn your next pin!

The March monthly pin shoot will be held during regular club practice. This shoot is now open to ALL Papago club members (with current memberships).  This club level shoot allows archers an opportunity to experience a mock round of a tournament.

ONLY Indoor distances  will be shot during this pin shoot. Please arrive early enough to get equipment set up, warmed up and ready to begin official practice by 8:30AM.  **There will not be any make up arrows for late arrivals.

FORMAT
30 arrow round (3 arrows per end, 10 ends)
2 minute ends.
We will run an AB/CD line if necessary.
Whistle commands & timer will be used.

ADULTS / AAP
Barebow, Recurve & Compound shoot at 18 meters and on a 40 cm target face. Please review the scoring matrix below for your award levels.  Adult Indoor Matrix

YOUTH / JOAD
9 meter distance allowed for green, purple, gray & white pins.
18 meter distance only for black through Olympian pins.
40 cm target face ONLY for compound. Optional for blue pin through Olympian.
60 cm target face for all others.

JOAD Indoor Matrix

NO pre-registration is required.
Those interested in receiving pin awards will turn in their score sheet at the end of the round.

2017 AZ State Master’s Championships Registration OPEN

Papago and USA Archery AZ are excited to be hosting the Inaugural AZ State Master’s Championships in 2017. The event will be a 900 round with three distances and is a Star FITA registered event.
Registration has opened for this event.

Class space is limited and will fill up fast. Registration for all courses is done online and when we reach the maximum number of participants (20 archers), the link will shut down.
