2008 Papago FITA Archers Judge Information Page
All 2008/2009 PFA Tournaments to have USAA Judges

The Papago FITA Archers will now have USAA registered judges at all of our 2008/2009 Tournaments. Our goal is to prepare new Archers for State and National Tournaments. We also hope to increase the number of judges in Arizona by providing more venues that experienced judges can work with new judges.

USAA registered judges will receive $50.00 per day for officiating.

Below are some important steps to become an Archery Judge.

If you are currently an Archery Official and would like to work one of our events or a new judge who would like to shadow a more experienced judge,
please contact Mike Cullumber at mcullumber@papagoarchery.com.

Steps to take:

1. You must be a USAA member for a year before becoming a judge, so join the
USAA now. http://www.usarchery.org/usarchery/html/Membership.html
Family membership insure that all can take part.

2. Here is the USAA Judges webpage which includes application and links to a
variety of information. http://www.usarchery.org/usarchery/html/Judges.html

3. The best way to start out to see if judging is for you is to "shadow" a
judge.  To do so, ask any tournament if you can shadow and then spend a day
judging with a judge.

4. Judges seminars take place for all levels of judges.  Contact Bob Pian at azjoad@cox.net to let the ASAA know of membership request for judges
seminars.

5. Why judge...Reasons include helping kids, helping archers, and can lead all the way up to being a judge at the Summer Olympic Games or World Championships.  Quality tournament competitions require quality officials.

Thank you, the PFA
