PAA wants to thank all of the archers and spectators that came out to our tournament this past weekend. We always enjoy hosting these fun shoots and wouldn’t be able to to do it without all of your support.
Our spring shoot is historically a very warm day. This year we got lucky and had gorgeous temperatures (high in the 70s), beautiful cloud coverage and minimal wind. Perfect. Shooting. Conditions.
We welcomed archers to the shooting line that ranged in age from 8 to 80 years old this tournament. As usual, we had a few first time competitors in the youth divisions and they all did a wonderful job learning how participating in a tournament works. We even had competitors that traveled from out of state to compete in the shoot!
Our most competitive division this tournament was the Compound Senior Males. There were 11 archers competing in this division. The runner up division was the Compound Master 60 Male. It appears the switch to the 2 separate five ring target faces was a positive change to the format of our tournaments. The Bowman division even switched over to the 2 five ring target faces in the second round in an effort to minimize arrow damage.
The top score of the tournament was an 886 and was achieved by both Thompson Wagner (Compound Cadet Male) & Wade Flake (Compound Senior Male). The top recurve score of the tournament was a whopping 806 shot by Waylon Hjerpe (Recurve Junior Male). There was some awesome shooting that was taking place this weekend!
Thanks to our tournament coordinators – Kristy & Kevin – along with our official judge – Lester Chin – we were able to keep the tournament running smoothly and wrapped up shooting, tear down of the range & awards by 1pm.
Thank you to all of our community volunteers for your assistance with running the concession stand, resetting the range, break down of the range, assistance with youth bales and keeping the area looking beautiful as we exited the range Saturday afternoon. We are so grateful to be a part of this amazing archery community!
