2017 Master’s Outdoor Championships Recap & Results

Papago Archery Association was pleased to be a part of the Inaugural AZ State Master’s Outdoor Championships this year. With the introduction of the Master’s USAT division this year by USA Archery, the AZ State Association wanted to facilitate a competition for our Master’s archers that would provide a multi distance format. The Papago 900 was the perfect fit and we were thrilled to host the Championships this year.

There were 24 registered archers for the tournament and 23 that competed on April 22nd, 2017. Archers arrived at the range in the morning to complete equipment inspection and set up for the first round distance of 60 meters.  We were able to run a single shooting line with 2 archers per bale that kept the pace of the tournament running swiftly.

After each round, the field crew completed a reset to bring the bales closer by 10 meters, for a total of 3 distances (60/50/40 meters).  The archers opted to have short breaks between the distances, as opposed to break for lunch. As a result, the competition completed around 11:30 am and was immediately followed by awards.

We want to thank all of the seasoned archers that took the time out of their weekend to participate in the event and keep things moving so smoothly throughout the shoot. Thank you to the Papago club members that volunteered to set up the field and to the spectators that stopped by to support the sport of archery. We couldn’t host these events without everyone that participated!
